Sorry!
Okay, I have officially been a slacker. Things have been crazy between school, work, and getting ready for Lilliana. Here are some pics from the baby shower at Glenwood. We received some great gifts! I will post pics from the shower at work later. Sometime next week hopefully you will get to see the rest of the furniture. It has all been ordered, we are just waiting for it to come in. But for now, I hope you enjoy these pics. And I promise next time I won't wait this long between posts. P.S. Isn't the baby's quilt going to look great?

diapers
So, many of you have asked me about our decision to use cloth diapers. A few reasons we have made this decision are: cost savings, softer on baby and less diaper rash, learn to potty train earlier, and it's better for the environment too. Saying this, there will be times Lilliana will be in disposables but we can do most of her diapering in cloth. The main diaper we are going with is called a Haute Pocket. It is a one-size pocket diaper. This means it will fit her from about 8lbs to 35lbs - pretty much the entire time she is in diapers. The diapers fit that long because of snaps and velcro that allow you to adjust the size. Being a pocket diaper means you put an insert in the diaper for absorbancy. These diapers come with the inserts. When she is a newborn and a little smaller we will probably use a fitted diaper (I am currently leaning towards a brand called kissaluvs) that is just cloth but is sized to fit newborns 5lbs to 12lbs. You have to use a diaper cover with these, but you don't need one for every change, you can reuse the cover because the diaper absorbs everything. Both of these types of diapers can be put in the wash, you just wash them with a couple of tablespoons of detergent and then give them an extra rinse. They can also be dryed in the dryer or you can hang them to dry. Okay, that is my tutorial for the night, hope I have answered some of your questions. The picture on the left is the Haute Pocket diaper, and the picture on the right is the Kissaluvs.
Curtains!
This weekend I finished the curtains for Lilliana's room. You can see in the picture the pillows I made for the chair in there too. I love this fabric and can't wait to see all the bedding finished, it is going to look great! The bedding will include the circle outline fabric that is on the chair, the stripe and pink solid fabrics on the curtains, and a polka dot that matches as well.

We have a crib!
Well as you can see I am getting bigger with every day, but the room is also getting farther along. Yeah! Chris's parents got Lilliana her crib and came over and helped us (well, Chris, I read the directions!) put it together. (Forgive the slightly goofy picture of Chris's dad. I caught him at just the right moment, and it shows some of his great humor!) I love it and it looks great in her room. We also got the pack and play and her stroller and carseat out of the boxes and assembled. As you can see, Sassy wanted nothing to do with the pack and play. She sure is glad it is not for her! :) And last but not least, my diaper bag. I got it at a consignment sale in Franklin. It was just the one I was looking for, but I got a great deal on it, and it looks brand new. And somehow without any planning it matched Lilliana's room perfectly when I brought it home.

Been a while
So, I know it has been a while. I'm sorry. Things have been crazy busy and the weekends have been nonstop. We haven't really done anymore to Lilliana's room, but her crib is on the way. It should be here soon. Yeah! And, the diapers we want should be in stock any day now so we can finally start ordering those. I know, I know, I am crazy for doing cloth diapers. But the truth is they have come a long way (no more fussy vinyl covers) and they will save us a ton of money and they are eco-friendly :) Well, I have to admit while I can't wait to meet Lilliana face to face, I am not excited about going through labor. I have to keep reminding myself how many women do it every day. But, I guess before I start worrying about that I have to finish this semester of school. Classes have been going pretty well so far, but they are about to gear up. Hopefully, I can make it through the end of the semester with no problems. I guess that is all for now. Love you guys!

It's done!!!
Well, at least all the painting and basic decorating is finished. We still need to add furniture and fabric, and a few light sources but other than that all the hard work is done! I think it turned out great and can't wait to see the bits and pieces all come together. Hope you all enjoy it! Some of the pics are in progress and some are finished ones.

Before and After
Look below to see some great pics of Lilliana's room before and after the work we did this weekend. It's not quite done yet, we still need to put up the beadboard and paint it white, but we sure made some progress this weekend. Notice my great grandmother's beautiful vanity - she is probably rolling over in her grave now that it is pink. I can't tell you how long it has been green. Also, I love the masterpiece - her name on the wall. I think it looks great and now the room really feels like hers!

And it starts ...
Well today is the big day. Today we start painting Lilliana's room. I am so excited! We picked up paint last night and I can't wait to see how it looks. I will try and post some before and after pics for todays part. Hopefully, we will get the painting done this weekend and then next weekend we can do the beadboard on the lower half of the room. Well, off to work ...
Do you think he is ready?
