another milestone

Well, Lilli turned 9 months old yesterday. I can't believe it, the year is passing by so fast... Lilli has been crawling and pulling up for weeks. But yesterday she let go while she was standing up and stood there all by herself without falling for about 10 seconds. It was awesome! Then tonight while she was taking her bottle, she actually held it and tilted it up so she could feed herself. Usually, she is fine to just let me hold the bottle and do all the work. She is growing up so quickly...

naps

Naps....right now that is a four letter cuss word in this house. It has definitely been...shall we say...challenging to get Lilli down for a nap lately. This afternoon she fell asleep in the car for less than 5 minutes even though I was in the backseat with her trying to keep her awake. When we got inside she woke up, I gave her a bottle, and tried to lay her right back down to sleep. Almost two hours later, she finally went down with the help of the swing and the repeat button on the cd player.

She use to be able to put herself to sleep, but as soon as she learned how to sit up on her own that all fell apart. We have been fighting a losing battle ever since then. I have finally gotten her to the point where I just lay her down in the crib and stand over her and rub her back and usually withing about 15 minutes she is asleep. But if I leave the room before she is asleep we have to start back over again. This is better though than trying to rock her to sleep. She is a real fighter when we do that.

Well I just got her down to bed for the night, so I am off to get some rest since our day wasn't very restful :)

Turning over a new leaf

OK, I promise I am really turning over a new leaf this time. It won't be another month until I post again.

We had a great time in San Antonio and Lilli traveled really well. She slept for most of the plane ride both ways which was really nice. Chris had to work most of the time we were there, so Lilli and I did some shopping and some swimming in the pool. It was nice to just get away for a while.

Last weekend we took Lilli to Gatlinburg and we had lots of fun there too. We took Lilli to the aquarium for the first time and she was really enthralled with all the fish and sea creatures. She did pretty good in the car too. But it was much easier at night than during the day. The puppies went with us too so we had the whole clan there. I had intended to do all of our Christmas shopping while we were there and I did none -- that's right, zero, zip, nada. Oh well, the best of intentions I guess.

This weekend we are going to start working on the house again. We are turning the office into the playroom so that there is a home for Lilli's toys. We sent the desk and bookcases to Chris and Dawn's when they had their adoption yard sale, so now we have to sort through all the books, cds, and dvds and get them up in the attic. Then we are repainting the room to a more kid-friendly color. I want to get a small table and chairs to put in there for when Lilli gets a little bit bigger so that is probably what I am on the hunt for now.

Work is going well, things are in a lot of transition, so it has been really busy. I miss Lilli during the day alot. But she is in good hands with my mom and Chris's grandmother.

Lilli is getting so big! She is crawling like crazy. Just tonight I was playing in the floor with her and she started crawling down the hall. By the time I could get up and go get her she had gotten all the way to our bedroom! She is eating really well. This week we started trying her on real food. She likes bananas, toast, and polenta.

We changed her bottles a few weeks ago. I finally bought into the whole BPA thing. So now we use the MAM bottle, which is actually really nice and it is the same brand as the pacifier she uses. We didn't have any problems transitioning her over.

I have also started regularly cloth diapering her on the weekends. I sold a bunch of the one size diapers I bought because they were just way too big for her. Now I use size medium all-in-ones. Basically they are just like a disposable except I throw them in the wash instead of the trash can.
OK , this post has gotten really long. I guess I am making up for lost time. Next time I will post some pics and maybe a video if I can figure out how.
